Early Life

Nkechi Blessing Sunday was born on 14 February 1989 and raised in Surulere, Lagos State, though she hails from a community in Abia State in southeastern Nigeria. She completed her primary education at Olu Abiodun Nursery and Primary School and attended Barachel Model College for secondary school. She went on to earn a six-month diploma in Theatre Arts at Lagos State University, later furthering her education with a course in International Relations at Houdegbe North American University.

Career

Nkechi Blessing’s passion for acting was first spotted by her friend Kemi Korede, who featured her in the 2008 movie ‘Omo Bewaji,’ marking the start of her acting career. The role introduced her to producer Emeka Duru, who went on to cast her in supporting roles in ‘Through The Fire’ and ‘Entanglement’ in 2009, helping build her early profile in the industry.

She rose to prominence in 2012 after landing a lead role in ‘Kafila Omo Ibadan,’ offered to her by producer Temitope Bali. In 2015, she moved into production herself, producing and starring in her first film, ‘Omoge Lekki,’ alongside veteran actor Yinka Quadri. The film won a MAYA Award, and Nkechi earned a nomination for Revelation of the Year at the Best of Nollywood Awards.

In 2017, Nigeria Carnival USA named her one of its official ambassadors. The following year, she played the role of “Dora” in ‘The Ghost and the Tout’ (2018), a performance that earned her the City People Movie Award for Most Promising Actress. She went on to co-host the 2020 African Entertainment Awards USA and has since starred in a wide range of notable films, including ‘Fate of Alakada,’ ‘Tanwa Savage,’ ‘The Cleanser,’ ‘Omo Emi,’ ‘Ise Ori,’ ‘Breaded Life’ and ‘Olori Amolegbe.’

Business Ventures

Beyond acting, Nkechi Blessing leads her own production outfit, Nkechi Films Production, through which she continues to develop and star in new projects. She also runs the NBS Foundation and serves as a brand ambassador for Poshglow Skincare, extending her influence into business and philanthropy alongside her screen career.
