Early Life
Born on October 15, 1998, in Umuahia, Abia State, Ruby Akubueze grew up in a close-knit family of six. She completed her secondary education at Saint Joseph College and earned a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Lagos. Her academic background fueled her passion for acting and storytelling.
Career
Ruby began pursuing acting during her early years, performing in school plays, church programs, and local theatre groups. She made her screen debut in 2013 in Look Beyond, a web series by Faith Moyosore. That same year, she acted in Brother LIEnus alongside comedian AY Makun.
From 2018 to 2019, Ruby portrayed “Frances” in the hit series MTV Shuga Naija, a role that brought her international recognition. She continued building her filmography with roles in Kasanova, Her: The Movie, Purple Story, and Love and Gossip. In 2023, she starred in Ijogbon, a film directed by Kunle Afolayan.
Ruby won the African Fashion Fest Model Award for Best Actress in 2018 and earned a 2020 nomination for The Future Awards Africa Prize for Acting.
