Early Life

Cobhams Asuquo was born January 6, 1981 he is a renowned Nigerian musician, producer, and songwriter.

He began his career as the Head of Audio Productions at Question mark Entertainment, a local label, before establishing his own recording studio in 2006.

Cobhams is also the former CEO and Head of Productions at CAMP (Cobhams Asuquo Music Productions), a company he co-managed alongside Bez Idakula and Stan Iyke.

Career And Achievements

Cobhams Emmanuel Asuquo is a Nigerian-born songwriter, music producer, and singer who initially trained as a lawyer before venturing into music.

After working as Head of Audio Productions at a local label, he established his own music production and label company, Cobhams Asuquo Music Productions (CAMP), in 2008.

He later founded Vintage Gray Media Ltd. in 2016, which produced the popular show The Top 12 Countdown with Cobhams Asuquo, a platform dedicated to showcasing new music.

Cobhams has played a pivotal role in the Nigerian music industry, producing Asa’s debut album and writing/co-writing several of her hit songs like “Fire on the Mountain” and “Jailer.”

He has worked with a variety of top Nigerian and international artists, including Banky W, Omawumi, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, and Seyi Shay.

His contributions extend beyond music production, as he has arranged and performed at prestigious international events such as The Harare International Festival of Arts and the MTV Base Africa launch.

As a talented producer, Cobhams has also composed and arranged music for film and stage, contributing to productions like A Voice for Ella and Bent Arrows.

His involvement in humanitarian efforts includes producing the anthem for Bono’s ONE Campaign and the Poverty is Sexist campaign.

Cobhams also co-produced the song “Tell Everyone” for the UN Global Goals, featuring African artists like Sauti Sol, Mafikizolo, and Yemi Alade.

In addition to his music career, Cobhams is an advocate for African culture, participating in various global campaigns. He performed live at the Global Citizens Festival in Central Park, New York, to promote the UN Global Goals.

Cobhams also pursued his own solo career, releasing his first single “Ordinary People” in 2014. Since then, he has released several singles, including “Do the Right Thing”, “Star of Wonder”, “Boosit”, and “Adore”.

His latest release, “We Plenti”, featuring Simi, dropped on January 6, 2019.

Despite being visually impaired, Cobhams continues to make significant strides in the music industry. He married Ojuolape Veronica Olukanni on December 2, 2010, and the couple has two sons together.
