Cracker Mallo, born Ayodeji Olatunde Olowu, is a Nigerian record producer, recording artist, and songwriter from Lagos Island best known for shaping the sound of Fireboy DML’s debut album.
Born on August 18, 1996, and raised in Lagos, Cracker Mallo grew up in a household where his father, a jazz enthusiast, played records throughout the house, laying an early foundation for his musical ear. He first entered the music world as a DJ, playing at friends’ parties, before transitioning into production, drawing inspiration from established Nigerian producers including Sarz and Juls.
Cracker Mallo’s tag, delivered as an energetic ‘Cracker Cracker Cracker!’, began to gain wider recognition through his work on Fireboy DML’s 2019 debut album Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps, most notably the standout single ‘Jealous.’ The project introduced his ear for warm, melodic Afrobeats production to a national audience.
He went on to build a production catalogue that includes Olamide’s ‘Pawon’ and ‘Wonma,’ alongside work with Tiwa Savage and Mayorkun, establishing himself as a dependable hitmaker across different corners of the Nigerian music scene.
Beyond production, Cracker Mallo has stepped into recording music himself, releasing his debut EP A Friendly Introduction to Saund, featuring the standout single ‘Wickedest Whyne’ alongside Fireboy DML, reflecting his ambition to be recognised as an artist in his own right, not just a producer working behind the scenes.
