Egar Boi, born Ernest Ogaga Itiveh, is a Nigerian producer, singer, and songwriter who has built a reputation as a high-profile production talent while also carving out a parallel career as a recording artist.
Egar Boi grew up in a household dedicated to Christianity, with both parents serving as pastors. He learned to play the drums at age seven and the piano at twelve, developing his musical foundation through church and family, including bonding with his mother and sister over music at home.
Based in Lagos, Egar Boi built his early reputation as a producer and sound engineer, working with major Nigerian artists including Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage, Reekado Banks, and Oxlade, establishing himself as a dependable hitmaker well before stepping into the spotlight himself.
In 2021, Egar Boi expanded from production into performing, releasing his debut single as an artist, ‘Joma,’ a feel-good Afropop record produced by Mykah that featured guitar work from fellow producer Fiokee and gained traction on Apple Music’s top playlists.
Egar Boi has continued to release music as an artist alongside his production work, including his 2026 single ‘Talk,’ a smooth Afrobeats record that blends his own production instincts with his vocal and songwriting abilities, reflecting his ongoing evolution from behind-the-scenes hitmaker to recognised performer.
