Femi Leye, born Oluwafemi Abolade Leye, is a Nigerian guitarist, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer whose sound blends African rhythms with contemporary soul, jazz, R&B, and Yoruba musical traditions.
Born on September 7, 1989, in Ikeja, Lagos State, Femi Leye is one of three children born to Francis Babatunde Ogunleye and Grace Folake Ogunleye. He graduated from the Federal Polytechnic in Ilaro, building an academic foundation before pursuing music professionally.
As a multi-instrumentalist proficient in guitar, piano, bass, and drums and percussion, Femi Leye has built a career that spans performing, songwriting, and producing, a versatility that has allowed him to work across genres rather than being confined to a single lane.
His musical output reflects a hybrid approach, drawing on African ethnic sounds, contemporary soul, jazz, funk, and rhythm and blues, while maintaining a strong connection to Yoruba musical traditions that inform his songwriting and arrangement choices.
Femi Leye operates under his own label, Femi Leye Entertainment, giving him creative and commercial control over his output as both a recording artist and a producer within the broader Nigerian music scene.
