Queen Ewaure of the Benin Kingdom has publicly disputed claims by the Benin Traditional Council (BTC) regarding an “unauthorized” palace visit by TikTok influencer Peller. Her defense follows her suspension and disciplinary actions affecting palace officials.

The dispute revolves around a March 6, 2026, visit during Peller’s nationwide tour. The BTC labeled the event a “major violation” of palace customs. BTC Secretary Frank Irabor stated:

“The council confirms that an individual, Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja… gained unauthorised access to the palace premises… without the requisite permission from the council. Mr Adelaja and his entourage entered the palace without the requisite permission from the council, and their subsequent conduct caused significant embarrassment and a breach of the peace within the palace grounds.”

In response, Queen Ewaure presented a letter bearing an official BTC stamp, claiming that Peller’s visit was authorized.

“The Benin traditional council lied that Peller coming to the palace was unauthorized and I brought him to the palace, but I hope I will be able to convince you all that Peller coming to the palace was authorized.”

The Queen also alleged that the council is acting out of personal vendetta:

“Look at the stamp on this letter shows that it was approved by Benin traditional council, but they’re all lying on my head.”

She suggested the controversy reflects internal palace strife rather than solely Peller’s visit:

“The issues at hand isn’t just because Peller came to the palace’s or me gifting him, a lot has been happening behind close doors.”

Currently, Queen Ewaure faces disciplinary proceedings that may result in her removal. Meanwhile, palace staff member Omuemu has been charged in court for allegedly aiding Peller’s access. Peller has been summoned to appear before a committee of chiefs and submit a written apology. His management stated that a formal request was made prior to the visit and apologized for any “inappropriate moments.”
