Ghanaian authorities have confiscated a 2019 Lamborghini Urus from popular dancehall artist Shatta Wale, following a formal request from the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice. The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) carried out the seizure at the musician’s residence in Trassaco Valley, Accra.

According to EOCO’s acting director, Raymond Archer, the seizure took place in June after the Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit lawfully searched the property. The vehicle was linked to Nana Kwabena Amuah, a convicted fraudster currently serving a prison sentence in the United States for financial crimes. Investigators believe the luxury car was purchased with criminal proceeds.
Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah, initially urged EOCO to keep the operation discreet, emphasizing the car’s importance to his public image. However, he eventually agreed to surrender the vehicle without resistance. EOCO confirmed the process occurred peacefully and without any disruption.
The Lamborghini now remains in EOCO’s custody, with plans underway to return it to the United States as part of a $4.7 million restitution order connected to Amuah’s case.
EOCO has named Shatta Wale and a former senior official from Ghana’s National Signal Bureau as persons of interest. Both are expected to cooperate in the ongoing investigation.
Shatta Wale responded on Facebook, criticizing EOCO’s use of armed officers during the operation. He described the experience as humiliating and questioned the approach taken by the agency.
Meanwhile, EOCO stated it may submit a final report to both the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice once investigations conclude.
