Uzor Arukwe has dismissed allegations of a romantic affair with actress and reality television star Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, popularly known as Bambam.
The Nollywood actor addressed the rumours during an interview with BBC Igbo, where he responded to claims that his on-screen chemistry with the married actress had spilled into a real-life relationship.
Arukwe stated that the speculation was completely false. He explained that his relationship with Bambam was strictly professional. According to him, he was careful to respect her marriage throughout the filming process.
“Before I touched her, I asked her if there was any way I could touch her that her husband wouldn’t like or that might cause problems at home.”
The actor explained that he set clear physical boundaries before filming any scene that required intimacy or close contact. He said the conversation was necessary to ensure that his performance would not create problems in her home.
Uzor Arukwe also addressed claims suggesting that he and Bambam had known each other long before the film project. He clarified that they had never met prior to working together on the production.
“That movie was the first time I had ever met her. But people started saying we slept together and were dating, which was completely false.”
The actor stressed that the rumours were created by observers after the film’s release. According to him, there was no romantic involvement during or after the production.
The speculation gained attention online shortly after the film premiered. Many viewers pointed to the actors’ convincing on-screen chemistry as the reason behind the rumours.
However, Arukwe maintained that the narrative of a romantic relationship was unfounded. He reiterated that the working relationship between him and Bambam remained strictly professional from start to finish.
