Afrobeats icon Wizkid’s HBO documentary Long Live Lagos will premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Festival in New York City. The feature will screen in Tribeca’s Spotlight+ section, which pairs select films with live conversations and performances. The festival runs from June 4 to 15, showcasing bold stories and global voices.
Directed by Karam Gill and co-produced with Daniel Malikyar, Long Live Lagos traces Wizkid’s journey from the streets of Lagos to international superstardom. The documentary blends emotional moments, epic performances, and commentary on culture and identity. It tells how Wizkid reshapes global perceptions of Africa through music, style, and storytelling.
The film includes appearances by Afrobeat pioneer Femi Kuti, Wizkid’s manager Jada Pollock, media personality Julie Adenuga, and music executive Seni Saraki, who also co-produced the project. Other contributors include Sunday Are, Matthew Temitope, and Solomon Karen, offering rare insights into Wizkid’s creative world.
Following the screening, fans can expect a live conversation between Wizkid and director Karam Gill. This event will give audiences a deeper look at the documentary’s vision and purpose. The premiere adds to a strong lineup of music-focused films at Tribeca this year, including projects on Miley Cyrus, Metallica, Billy Idol, and Depeche Mode.
Long Live Lagos also strengthens Nigeria’s presence at Tribeca, following last year’s psychological thriller The Weekend. Wizkid’s story reflects more than personal success—it celebrates African pride, creativity, and global impact. With this premiere, he returns to the spotlight in a powerful, cinematic way, sharing his roots and legacy with the world.
