Early Life
Born in Ifon, located in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Ayo Makun is the eldest male child in a family of seven. He studied Theatre Arts at Delta State University, Abraka, where he spent nine years completing his degree and graduated in 2003.
During his time at university, Ayo Makun won several awards, including the Jaycee Club Socio-Personality Award, Best Show Business Promoter (2001), Most Celebrated Student on Campus (2001), and Most Fashionable Student on Campus (1999 and 2000).
Career
Ayo Makun rose to fame while working as the personal assistant and event manager to renowned Nigerian comedian Alibaba Akporobome. He contributed a regular column titled โA.Y Wireโ to The Sun newspaper and wrote for Laugh Mattaz, a comedy platform by Gbenga Adeyinka.
AY created and stars in the sitcom AYโs Crib, acting alongside Alex Ekubo, Venita Akpofure, Buchi Franklin, and Justice Nuagbe. He also organizes major comedy events, notably AY Live, which features top Nigerian comedians such as Bovi and Helen Paul.
As CEO of Corporate World Entertainment, he supports emerging talents through the AY Open Mic Challenge, a platform he launched to discover and promote upcoming comedians. In addition to his media ventures, he owns a clubhouse.
