Early Life

Sola Sobowale born December 26, 1965 is a veteran Nigerian actress, screenwriter, film director, and producer. She rose to fame in 2001 with her breakout performance in the hit Nigerian television series Super Story: Oh Father, Oh Daughter, which introduced her to a broader audience and established her as a household name.

Career

Before achieving mainstream recognition, Sola featured in classic Nigerian productions such as The Village Headmaster, Mirror in the Sun, and the Yoruba-language film Asewo To Re Mecca. She began her acting journey with the Awada Kerikeri Theatre Group under the leadership of Adebayo Salami. Her talent quickly stood out, and she soon began writing, co-writing, directing, and producing her own films.

Sola Sobowale wrote, produced, and directed Ohun Oko Somida, a 2010 Yoruba film starring Adebayo Salami. She also played key roles in Dangerous Twins (2004) and Family on Fire, both projects produced and directed by Tade Ogidan. Her creative versatility has significantly shaped Nollywood’s growth and appeal.

In 2018, she delivered one of her most iconic performances as Eniola Salami in King of Boys, a Nigerian political crime thriller directed by Kemi Adetiba.

Sola Sobowale is married and a proud mother of four children.
