Early Life
Nosa Omoregie, widely known as Nosa, was born on 26 February 1981 in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. He studied Engineering at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), but his heart belonged to music from a young age. Growing up in a Christian home, Nosa nurtured his musical talents in his church’s children’s choir.
Career
From an early age, Nosa embraced music, drawing inspiration from gospel legends like Fred Hammond and Kim Burrell, and R&B icons like Boyz II Men. Over time, he expanded his taste to jazz, soul, rock, and Afro-highlife, heavily influenced by legends such as Sonny Okosun, Onyeka Onwenu, and King Sunny Adé.
Nosa aimed to fuse genres while keeping gospel at the core. His sound blends soul with highlife, layers rock choruses on Afro beats, and delivers inspirational lyrics in both English and Pidgin. His goal remains clear: to share uplifting messages with a diverse audience through genre-defying gospel music.
He also gained national attention after releasing his debut single, Always Pray for You, in 2009. In 2014, he dropped his debut album Open Doors, which featured hit singles like Why You Love Me and Always on My Mind. That same year, he collaborated with Nokia for the release of Love Is Calling and signed a brand endorsement deal with Unilever.
On his birthday in 2020, Nosa launched his independent label, Salt Music, while continuing his affiliation with Chocolate City, which he joined in 2012.
Nosa’s music blends heartfelt gospel with genre innovation, setting him apart in Nigeria’s gospel scene. Through his soulful lyrics and versatile sound, he continues to inspire, uplift, and break musical boundaries.
