Early Life

Olajumoke Amoke Olatunde George, widely known as Jumoke George, was born on February 18 1959 and hails from Ibadan, Oyo State. Raised in a military household, her father served in the Nigerian military while her stepmother worked as a military nurse. Her parents separated during her childhood, leaving her in the care of her father and stepmother. Following family disputes, her father expelled her from home during her secondary school years, forcing her to rely on friends for shelter.

Jumoke attended several schools across Nigeria due to her family’s military background, including Command Children School in Yaba, Army Children School in Kano, and Anglican Grammar School in Ibadan. She later studied Business Administration at Government Technical College in Osogbo.

Career

Jumoke entered the acting world at the age of eight through a family friend. She began performing in stage dramas with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Ibadan and later joined a drama troupe under NTAโ€™s platform. With the mentorship of Victor Ashaolu, she transitioned into the Yoruba film industry.

When her acting opportunities slowed, Jumoke pivoted to broadcasting. She joined the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), where she anchored five live programs, showcasing her versatility and keeping her deeply involved in media work.

Jumoke Georgeโ€™s journey reflects strength, adaptability, and an enduring love for storytelling. From early-stage drama to film and broadcasting, she remains a respected voice in the Nigerian entertainment landscape.
