Nigerian businessman and nightlife influencer, Cubana Chief Priest, has voiced strong concerns over the deteriorating state of healthcare in Nigeria after personally experiencing service delays at hospitals in Lagos.

After visiting a hospital in Ikoyi that he has used for years, Chief Priest described waiting over an hour without seeing a doctor, even after completing initial vital checks. The lack of timely attention forced him to self-medicate with drugs for typhoid and malaria while planning to seek full treatment abroad.

Frustrated but still seeking help, he then visited another hospital in Lekki. There, he faced a different obstacle—long online forms that delayed access to medical consultation. The experience further reinforced his disappointment in the system.

Expressing his frustration on social media, Chief Priest didn’t name the facilities but shared how unacceptable the experience felt, especially given the severity of health issues like typhoid and malaria. He emphasized how privileged individuals can resort to international healthcare, but ordinary Nigerians remain at risk due to poor access and inefficient service delivery.

He stated, “Healthcare is a joke in this country. I waited over an hour in Ikoyi, no doctor showed up. In Lekki, they had me fill long forms online before I could see anyone. I ended up buying medication myself. I’ll seek proper treatment when I get to the UK. It’s a shame. Only God is protecting people in this country.”

Cubana Chief Priest’s experience underscores the urgent need to reform Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
