Early Life

Vector, born Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, entered the world in Lagos State and hails from Ogun State. As the fourth of five children, he attended schools across Lagos, including Command Children School, Ijebu Ode Grammar School, Government College Victoria Island, and St. Gregory’s College, Ikoyi.

He discovered hip-hop in 1994 and began performing while in secondary school. By 1999, he co-founded a group called Badder Boiz with Krystal and Blaze. The trio recorded demos and performed until 2004 when Krystal exited the group. Vector later earned a philosophy degree from the University of Lagos in 2008.

Career

Vector officially launched his career with “Kilode” in 2010, followed by his debut album State of Surprise. He dropped hits like “Mary Jane,” “Get Down” featuring 2Face, and “Angeli” with 9ice. His 2012 album The Second Coming continued his momentum. In 2016, he released Lafíaji, followed by The Rap Dialogue mixtape in 2018. In 2019, he dropped Vibes Before Teslim, showcasing his journey of self-discovery.

Vector has voiced national radio ads for Sprite since 2009 and delivered Nigeria’s longest freestyle rap. He later signed with Def Jam Africa in 2020. Known for impactful collaborations, he worked with Mavado, BigTril, Sarkodie, Pallaso, Raezy, and Larry Gaaga.

In 2022, he featured in the Hennessy Africa Cypher alongside top African lyricists like M.I Abaga, A-Reece, M.anifest, and Octopizzo.
