Early Life

Nedu Wazobia was born Chinedu Ani Emmanuel on 5 August 1982 in Kaduna State, Nigeria, though he hails from Enugu State and belongs to the Igbo ethnic group. He earned a degree in Accounting from Madonna University, Elele Okija, Anambra State. During his National Youth Service Corps year, he was posted to a radio station in Jigawa State as an on-air personality, an experience that would prove more influential on his career path than his academic training.

Career

After his NYSC, Nedu briefly worked as a site manager in Abuja, a period he has described as unfulfilling, before relocating to Lagos to pursue broadcasting and entertainment full time. He built a name for himself at Wazobia FM 94.1 Lagos, where his pidgin-language rendition of the daily news became a signature format, delivered with comic timing that turned routine news segments into entertainment.

Nedu expanded his profile through a series of hugely popular comedic alter-ego characters, including Sister Nkechi, Alhaji Musa, EndTime Landlord and Officer Jato, which have earned him millions of views online and a large social media following. He has crossed over into acting, appearing in Nollywood films and comedy productions including ‘King of Boys,’ ‘Chief Daddy,’ ‘Hell Ride’ and ‘Who Cheats More.’ He has also become a sought-after brand ambassador and influencer, partnering with major companies including MTN, Fidelity Bank, Quickteller and Sun Lottery.

Personal Life

Nedu Wazobia was married to Uzoamaka Ohiri from 2013 to 2018; the couple share three children. He has remained a prominent figure in Nigerian entertainment media, known for his versatility across radio, television, comedy and film.
