Akinyoola Ayoola, popularly known as Kamo State (also called Creative Kamo or CKamo), was born on June 14, 1992, and is a native of Ipetumodu in Osun State, though he was raised in Ibadan, Oyo State. He holds a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication and is Yoruba by tribe, delivering most of his comedy in the language.
Kamo State began his entertainment career as a traditional stand-up comedian in 2013 before moving into online skit-making, where he found viral success with his “NEPA Boys” series alongside collaborator Ozain Ibadan, a comedic take on the daily antics of local electricity officials that spread quickly across Instagram and YouTube. That online following became the springboard for a crossover into mainstream Nollywood cinema, with roles in Funke Akindele’s “Everybody Loves Jenifa” (2024) marking a turning point in his acting career.
Since then, Kamo State has become one of the most commercially significant names to emerge from Nigeria’s skit-to-cinema pipeline. In May 2026, he was ranked the second highest-grossing Nollywood actor of all time, with total box office earnings of ₦6.56 billion across nine cinema releases, buoyed by hits like “Efunroye” and “It Takes Two” (2026). His rise reflects a broader industry shift, where digital-first creators are increasingly translating online popularity into major theatrical box office returns. He is married to Esther Olamide, with whom he shares two daughters.
