American R&B singer Chris Brown has deactivated his Instagram account after facing intense backlash over a viral performance with Kayla Nicole.

The move came days after his Breezy Bowl XX concert at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

Viral Moment Turns Controversial

During a performance of his 2007 hit Take You Down, Brown brought Kayla Nicole onstage. She reclined on a red chaise while Brown performed a lap dance and kissed her leg.

The crowd at SoFi Stadium cheered, and Nicole later called the moment a personal celebration.

“For the teenage me blasting CB in her bedroom,” she posted. “And for my brown girls.”

The video quickly went viral.

Backlash Over Longstanding Allegations

However, the moment sparked renewed criticism. Many online users accused Brown of colorism, citing a long history of favoring lighter-skinned women.

The debate spread fast across X, TikTok, and Instagram.

Brown Responds, Then Logs Off

Brown initially responded with an Instagram Story:

“Miss me with that colorist rage baiting!!!”

When criticism escalated, he followed up with another post:

“Ima take a break from social media. Y’all done pissed me off long enough.”

By Monday, Brown’s Instagram, which had over 75 million followers, was gone.

Not the First Time

Brown has faced similar accusations before. In 2023, two Black women in the U.K. alleged they were denied VIP access at one of his parties due to their skin tone.

Brown denied the claims. Still, the controversy added to a growing list of incidents affecting his public image.

Legal Trouble Adds Pressure

Brown is also dealing with serious legal issues. In May 2025, he was arrested in connection with an alleged assault involving music producer Abe Diaw in London.

Diaw claims Brown hit him with a tequila bottle, causing severe injuries. He later filed a $16 million lawsuit.

The timing of his Instagram departure adds to speculation about the singer’s state of mind.
