Guinness World Records has officially recognized Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci for setting a new record for the largest pot of jollof rice ever cooked. The impressive culinary achievement took place in Victoria Island, Lagos, where Hilda, in collaboration with food brand Gino, prepared a staggering 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lb 9 oz) of Nigerian-style jollof rice.

The announcement came on Monday, confirming what many had anticipated—a new milestone for both Hilda and Nigerian cuisine. Guinness World Records stated: “New record: Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, 8,780 kg, achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”
This record-breaking event not only celebrated one of West Africa’s most iconic dishes but also reinforced Nigeria’s cultural presence on the global culinary stage.
Hilda Baci first gained international recognition in May 2023 when she shattered the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, cooking non-stop for 93 hours and 11 minutes. That achievement catapulted her into global fame, making her one of Nigeria’s most celebrated culinary figures.
Now, with this new feat, she continues to raise the bar. Her dedication, creativity, and pride in Nigerian cuisine serve as an inspiration to aspiring chefs and food lovers across the continent.
This achievement isn’t just about setting records it’s also about celebrating culture, determination, and national pride through food.
