Nigerian rapper Ladipoe is shutting down rumours of a secret beef with Odumodublvck. For those expecting drama, there is none.

The Mavin Records rapper spoke about these speculations in a recent interview on Line by Line. Fans had suggested that an old verse from one of his tracks was a subtle jab at Odumodublvck. But Ladipoe made it clear that the verse was never aimed at him.

“But like, was that a sub for him? How? How? It’s an old track, I didn’t know OD then,” he said. He added that people seeing it that way only shows how strong and relevant his lyrics remain today.

When asked what he thinks about Odumodublvck, Ladipoe had nothing but praise. “I like him. I feel like he’s a necessary voice,” he said.

He explained that rap needs different styles to stay fresh and interesting. Using rap legends as examples, he said, “You think of Jay-Z, you think of Nas, DMX’s voice was so necessary. Who had that sound? I feel like OD has a very arresting presence on tracks. He has his own flow. I think that that is the kind of thing that keeps rap interesting. It keeps rap evolving, and it keeps it moving as far, as wide as it can go.”

He also shared that he and Odumodublvck have met a few times and have a good relationship. For Ladipoe, it is about supporting each other to push Nigerian rap forward.

At the end of the day, he wants fans to stop creating fake rivalries between artists. For him, it does more harm than good to the culture they are trying to build.
