Early Life
Bucci Franklin, born Onyebuchi Franklin Odurukwe on June 9, 1992, continues to rise as one of Nollywood’s most dynamic actors. He grew up in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, but originally hails from Nkwerre in Imo State. From a young age, he embraced the performing arts, attending Bereton Primary School and Covenant Secondary School before studying Theatre Arts at the University of Abuja.
At university, Bucci immersed himself in stage productions and musical performances, quickly gaining popularity for his charisma and raw talent.
Career
After graduation, he transitioned smoothly into the media world, working as a presenter with a multimedia broadcasting company and later as a radio host on Love FM Abuja. He also co-hosted the TV program Spellbound on AIT.
Bucci’s on-screen career took off with supporting roles in Nollywood before he landed his breakout role as “Nze” in Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story. This performance catapulted him into the spotlight and confirmed his status as a serious actor. He had earlier earned recognition for his role in Knockout Blessing (2018).
In 2022, he starred as “Government” in Netflix’s Far From Home, working alongside a new generation of Nigerian stars. The series received wide acclaim and solidified his place as a leading talent in the Nigerian film industry.
Beyond acting, Bucci competed in the U.S.-based Spirited Actor competition, finishing among the top five and representing Nigeria on an international stage. His film credits include Heroes, Mrs. Elliot, I Said I Do, and Written in the Stars.
He has received several awards, including Best Actor in Theatre Arts at the University of Abuja (2007) and Best Upcoming Actor at the Africa Film/Music Award Festival (2015).
