Lil Kesh Attack: Police Confirm Arrest of Prime Suspects in Brutal Robbery Case
Nigerian police have arrested two suspects linked to the violent robbery and attempted murder of Afrobeats singer Lil Kesh.
On August 19, 2025, the artist — real name Ololade Keshinro — was stabbed and robbed in his Lagos home.
Arrest Made in Kano After Weeks of Investigation
The Kano State Police Command confirmed the arrest of:
- Mathew Adewole, 25
- Mukhtar Muhammad, 31
Both suspects were captured in Na’ibawa Quarters, Kano, during a precise, intelligence-led operation.
Police described the arrests as a major breakthrough and credited both local tips and surveillance data.
How the Attack Happened
According to reports, the attackers broke into Lil Kesh’s residence in Bera Estate, Chevron, Lagos.
They inflicted deep neck wounds in what appeared to be an attempted assassination, then robbed him at knifepoint.
The assailants allegedly transferred ₦2.12 million from Lil Kesh’s phone to an account linked to Muhammad.
Lil Kesh Breaks Silence on Social Media
Shortly after the incident, Lil Kesh posted an emotional update on X (formerly Twitter).
“Life threw me a curveball, but I’m safe, healing, and blessed to be here. Grateful for the love, support, and prayers.”
Fans and fellow artists quickly flooded his timeline with support and concern.
Funds Recovered, Investigation Ongoing
During the arrest, police recovered ₦2,120,000 traced to the robbery.
The suspects have since been transferred to the Lagos Police Command for further investigation and trial.
According to SP Abdullahi Haruna, Adewole confessed to the assault and confirmed the funds were sent to his accomplice.
Haruna said the operation was guided by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun’s mandate for enhanced intelligence operations.
“We remain committed to combating violent crime through strong intelligence and community partnerships,” Haruna added.
