Dibs, sometimes known as Dibs Tunes or Yo Dibs, is a young Nigerian record producer who developed his interest in music production from a very young age, drawn in by how beats are constructed and how lyrics, melody and vocals come together to form a finished record. He began creating instrumentals independently, posting early beats online under titles like “Afrobeat Type Beat, Burna Boy Instrumental (Giant)” before his talent caught wider industry attention.

Career

Dibs’ breakthrough came through his early production work with Seyi Vibez, producing the artist’s hit single “Chance,” a record he has said he made while dealing with sickness and depression, a personal detail that added weight to the song’s eventual success. The two went on to become long-time collaborators, working together across nine consecutive projects and helping shape the sound that carried Seyi Vibez to national prominence.

Dibs’ profile expanded significantly when he produced Burna Boy‘s “Higher,” a track that soared to the number one spot on Nigerian charts and introduced Dibs to an even wider audience, despite the collaboration happening remotely while Dibs was still in school. He has also built a catalogue of work with Zlatan, Odumodublvck and rising teen star Muyeez, becoming known for elaborate, street-hop-rooted beats that resonate across Nigeria’s fast-evolving Afrobeats landscape.

In October 2024, Dibs signed a publishing deal with Since 94 Publishing, part of the Dapper Group’s wider African music operations, a move that further formalised his standing as one of the country’s most in-demand young hitmakers. In early 2025, reports emerged that Seyi Vibez’s album “Children of Africa” did not feature any production from Dibs for the first time in years, a notable shift after their long run of collaborative projects together, though Dibs has continued working steadily across the industry since.

Dibs has kept much of his personal life private, letting his production catalogue and chart-topping collaborations speak for his rapid rise within the industry.

With a number-one hit for one of Nigeria’s biggest global stars already on his resume before the age of 21, Dibs remains one of the most closely watched young producers shaping the sound of contemporary Afrobeats and street-hop.
