Nigerian entertainer Speed Darlington triggered outrage after he openly described a sexual encounter with a 15-year-old girl during an Instagram Live session. Speaking in Igbo, he admitted the girl bled afterward and said he paid hotel staff ₦2,000 to replace the sheets. He didn’t name the hotel or its location.

Nigerians reacted with anger and demanded that authorities arrest and prosecute him. Many called for an immediate investigation, accusing him of boasting about a criminal act.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) responded swiftly. Although Speed Darlington failed to identify the location, the agency reviewed the footage and acknowledged the disturbing nature of the confession. Because the incident’s location remains unclear, DSVA referred the case to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), which handles such cases nationwide.
DSVA reaffirmed its mission to protect children and vulnerable individuals. The agency promised to keep tracking the case while urging NAPTIP to take appropriate action.
The confession has reignited conversations about the misuse of social media, the abuse of power by public figures, and the urgent need to strengthen protections for minors in Nigeria.
Authorities continue to assess the situation as the public demands swift and firm justice.
The incident serves as a powerful reminder of the influence public figures wield and the importance of responsible storytelling, especially when it involves sensitive subjects.
As investigations proceed, both the public and authorities are urging accountability, while emphasizing the need to prioritize the welfare and safety of minors in all public discourse.
