Tiwa Savage has revealed that she once dismissed Dorobucci as a “crap song” when she first heard it long before realizing she would appear on the track herself.

In a recent interview, the award-winning singer recalled how Don Jazzy kept playing the early version of Dorobucci during her wedding trip to Dubai. “He played it over and over in the hotel,” Tiwa said. “I didn’t want to say anything, but I thought it sounded terrible.”
At the time, Tiwa had no idea that Don Jazzy was working on the track for the Mavin collective. After the wedding, Don Jazzy insisted she return to Nigeria instead of heading off on her honeymoon. “He told me, ‘There’s one record. You have to come back,’” she recalled.
When Tiwa returned and heard the full version in the studio, she realized it was the same track she had dismissed in Dubai. “I felt shocked and even a little angry,” she admitted. “This had happened with Eminado too I didn’t like it at first either.”
Tiwa delayed recording her verse because she remained unsure about the track’s potential. “Everyone else had recorded theirs, and I was the last,” she said. “I kept thinking, ‘Do you all really like this?’”
Despite her doubts, the song became a massive hit. Tiwa eventually appreciated the production genius behind it. “I didn’t know I’d be on it,” she said. “Shout out to Don Jazzy.”
Tiwa Savage’s story proves that even seasoned artists can misjudge a hit.
