Reality TV star and former Big Brother Naija housemate Tuoyo Ideh has criticized actress Rita Daniels for permitting her daughter, Regina Daniels, to marry as a teenager. Tuoyo questioned how any parent could allow such a significant decision at such a young and impressionable age.
Using Regina’s early marriage as an example, Tuoyo argued that no teenager possesses the emotional or mental maturity to fully understand the responsibilities that come with marriage. He firmly believes that parents should protect their children, not expose them to adult roles too soon.
Tuoyo expressed disappointment in the growing trend of parental neglect, especially in modern times. He drew comparisons between older generations and the current era, noting that parents in the past paid closer attention to their children’s whereabouts, choices, and development.
He voiced his concerns openly, stating, “These days, parents are messing up. How does your child travel to another country for three weeks and you’re unaware? What exactly is your role as a parent?”
Referencing Regina Daniels’ marriage at around 17 or 18 years old, Tuoyo condemned the decision and placed blame on her mother, Rita Daniels, for enabling it. He emphasized that young girls need guidance and protection, not permission to enter into adult commitments before they are ready.
Tuoyo called on parents to return to active, responsible parenting, where discipline, supervision, and love guide a child’s growth.
