Nigerian music star Davido has shared personal insights about his life, family, and recovery from tragedy. In a heartfelt interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, the singer spoke about the deep emotional impact of losing his first son, Ifeanyi, and the joy of welcoming twins a year later.

Ifeanyi sadly passed away in November 2022 after a drowning incident at Davido’s Banana Island residence. The painful event caused the singer to withdraw from social media and public appearances for several months. During that period, he focused on his family and healing process. He later revealed that he had married his longtime partner, Chioma, in a private ceremony.

In October 2023, Davido and Chioma were blessed with twins, a boy and a girl. The singer said the resemblance between the newborn son and Ifeanyi is overwhelming. “The boy looks just like my son that passed. It is scary. It’s like literally him. We’re like, ‘No, it’s him. He came back’ type stuff,” Davido shared.

He added that losing Ifeanyi shifted his priorities. “That type of loss made you just be like, ‘I’m out.’ I am just going to chill, take care of my wife and take care of the family and get my head right,” he said. The birth of the twins and the success of his 2023 album Timeless helped him regain strength. According to Davido, the experience reaffirmed his belief that “God is real.”

Davido also revealed plans to dive into the film world. “I am an executive producer on a movie and a series with my director, Dammy Twitch. (We are) also working on my documentary,” he said. He expressed pride in how far he has come, saying, “I feel fulfilled. My dreams turned to reality.”
