Early life
Ramsey Nouah was born in Lagos to a Lebanese father and a Yoruba mother from Owo, Ondo State. He grew up in Surulere, Lagos, where he attended Atara Primary School and Community Grammar School. He later earned a diploma in Mass Communications from the University of Lagos and soon after began pursuing a career in acting.
Career
Ramsey Nouah entered the acting industry in the early 1990s, driven by the need to raise money for his General Certificate Education (GCE). His breakthrough came when he starred as Jeff Akin-Thomas in the popular Nigerian TV soap opera Fortunes.
He went on to play lead roles in numerous films and earned the nickname “Lover-Boy” due to his frequent appearances in romantic dramas. His strong screen presence and versatility quickly made him one of the most sought-after actors in Nollywood.
In 2015, he acquired the rights to remake the classic 1992 film Living in Bondage. By 2018, he announced the project as a sequel titled Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, which premiered on November 8, 2019.
In addition to directing the film, Nouah portrayed the new villain. The film was a critical and commercial success, winning seven awards at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards. His directorial achievements established him as a leading force behind the camera in Nollywood.
