Cubana Chief Priests’ restaurant in Lagos has been shut down by the state government following a serious environmental violation. The popular nightlife entrepreneur’s establishment, DONALDS, was linked to illegal waste dumping in the Lekki Phase 1 area, prompting swift action from the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).

Reports reveal that staff from the restaurant were caught illegally dumping refuse along Durosimi-Etti Street in Lekki Phase 1. The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) was alerted to the act by the Lekki Estate Residents Association (LERA) early on Saturday, May 18, 2025.

LAWMA’s Managing Director, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, confirmed the incident. He said a white Ford van with Abuja registration plates was caught in the act of dumping waste. The van was traced back to DONALDS Restaurant, located on Road 14 within the Lekki estate.

Security officers from LERA apprehended two suspects at the scene. They were taken to the LERA secretariat for questioning. According to reports, the suspects attempted to bribe the security team with ₦100,000, but the offer was rejected.

LAWMA’s compliance team soon arrived at the location. They took the individuals into custody and sealed off the restaurant for what was described as “gross environmental violations.” The act was said to be in breach of the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017.

Gbadegesin noted that prosecution will follow. He also urged businesses and residents to follow proper waste management practices.

“LAWMA remains resolute in its commitment to enforcing environmental regulations across Lagos,” he stated. “A clean and livable city is everyone’s responsibility.”

As of now, Cubana Chief Priest has not issued a public statement. However, the shutdown of DONALDS Restaurant marks a major setback for one of his major ventures in Lagos’s nightlife scene.
