Afrobeats sensation Ruger has opened up about his early days in music and how money changed his life. Known for hits like Bounce and Asiwaju, the Nigerian star recently shared details of what he did with his first paycheck and how he has handled success so far.

During an interview, Ruger revealed that his first payment from music was N500,000. Instead of spending the money on himself, he gave it all to his church. “My first earnings from music was N500,000 when I first came out. I can remember I gave everything to the church. I didn’t used it,” he said.

Not long after, he started seeing bigger results. His next payment was N1 million, and the excitement got the better of him. “The next payment was N1 million. I was feeling like I had arrive. I went on a shopping spree. More millions came in a space of one year,” he added.

The fast rise to fame didn’t just change his bank account. According to Ruger, it changed him too. He believes money always changes people, no matter how much they try to deny it. “Money changed me in some ways. Money changes everybody. No one can say money didn’t change them,” he said.

Now, he dreams of reaching a point in life where nothing can stress him. He mentioned Jay-Z as someone he looks up to for that calm confidence. “I want to get to a point where I no longer stress myself over anything,” he said. “Look at Jay-Z for instance, he doesn’t respond when people insult him knowing he is very successful. I’m looking forward to that level of success.”

From giving away his first paycheck to chasing peace of mind, Ruger’s journey shows that success is more than just the money. It’s also about growth and knowing what really matters.
