Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has written an emotional open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He posted the message on Instagram following the recent massacre in Benue State. The attack claimed the lives of over 250 people and has sparked outrage across Nigeria.
Edochie expressed concern about the growing insecurity and economic hardship in the country. He addressed the president directly. “Nigerians do not hate you, they hate the situation they find themselves in, which is the hardship and insecurity in the country,” he wrote.
He also gave credit for the administration’s achievements. He mentioned improvements in infrastructure and certain economic policies. But he warned that these efforts mean little if people live in fear or struggle to survive. “His Excellency Sir, you have done so well in infrastructure and laid down some good policies. Tackle insecurity and high cost of living and you’ll write your name with gold in the hearts of Nigerians,” he added.
The Yelewata community in Benue State was the target of the attack. Survivors described how armed men raided homes at night, set buildings on fire, and shot at innocent residents. A full year’s harvest was destroyed. The violence has left many families homeless and grieving.
Yul’s post drew reactions online. One follower said, “Yul is saying what most of us are thinking.” Another commented, “We need leaders who care, not just talk.”
As the country mourns, many hope that this call for change will not be ignored. Edochie’s message adds to the growing demands for stronger leadership and action.
