Early Life
Nkechi Blessing Sunday was born on February 14, 1989, and raised in Surulere, Lagos State. She hails from one of the communities in Abia State, located in southeastern Nigeria. Nkechi completed her primary education at Olu Abiodun Nursery and Primary School and attended Barachel Model College for secondary school. She earned a six-month diploma in Theatre Arts at Lagos State University and later studied International Relations at Houdegbe North American University.
Career
Nkechiโs passion for acting was discovered by her friend Kemi Korede, who featured her in the movie Omo Bewaji in 2008. This role jumpstarted her career and introduced her to Emeka Duru, who cast her in supporting roles in Through The Fire and Entanglement in 2009.
She rose to prominence in 2012 after landing a lead role in Kafila Omo Ibadan, offered by producer Temitope Bali. Nkechi produced her first movie, Omoge Lekki, in 2015, starring herself alongside Yinka Quadri. The film won a MAYA Award, and Nkechi earned a nomination for Revelation of the Year at the Best of Nollywood Awards.
In 2017, Nigeria Carnival USA named her one of its ambassadors. She played โDoraโ in The Ghost and the Tout (2018), winning the City People Movie Award for Most Promising Actress. Nkechi also co-hosted the 2020 African Entertainment Awards USA and starred in notable films such as Fate of Alakada, Tanwa Savage, The Cleanser, Omo Emi, and Ise Ori. She also featured in Breaded Life and Olori Amolegbe.
In conclusion, Nkechi leads Nkechi Films Production and runs the NBS Foundation. She serves as a brand ambassador for Poshglow Skincare.
