Asake is once again making headlines in the Nigerian music scene after his recent exit from YBNL. Many fans were surprised by his decision to leave Olamide’s label, but new reports have explained why he chose to walk away. It turns out that Asake felt unhappy with his first contract, which he signed in a rush without listening to the advice of his Lawyer.

According to his lawyer, Asake felt taken advantage of when he understood the full details of the agreement he signed. His lawyer, Falaye, shared that she warned Asake about the long-term effects before he signed it. But he was too eager for success and ignored her legal advice.

Falaye explained she tried to make him see the risks of signing a deal without review. However, Asake was so determined to rise in the industry that he believed her concerns were holding him back. In her words, Asake felt she was trying to block his breakthrough. Because of this, he dismissed her guidance and went ahead to sign the contract.

After joining YBNL and spending time under the label, Asake became frustrated when things did not go as he expected. Even though he gained fame quickly with hits like “Sungba” and “Terminator,” he still felt restricted by the contract he signed in haste. This frustration pushed him to part ways with the label.

In early 2025, Asake confirmed he was no longer under YBNL. He announced the launch of his own record label, Giran Republic. This marks a fresh start in his career and shows he is ready to control his music journey fully.

His departure from YBNL reminds young artists of the importance of understanding every part of their contracts. Even though Asake is thriving as an independent artist, his story teaches that legal advice should never be ignored, no matter how desperate one is for success. Fans are eager to see what Asake does next with Giran Republic and if this move will take his career to greater heights.
