Bariga has renamed some of its popular streets and bus stops. Fans of Nigerian music and pop culture are excited. One of the biggest highlights is that Olamide now has a street and a bus stop named after him.
The announcement was made on July 25, 2025. It came from Kolade David Alabi, the outgoing Chairman of Bariga Local Council Development Area. He made the announcement on his last day in office.
He said the changes were to honour people who have made Bariga and Nigeria proud.
Ilaje Road is now King Sunny Ade Road. Bariga Road is now Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way. Community Road in Akoka is now Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Road.
Charly Boy
Olamide’s name now appears on Ajidagan Street. It is now called Olamide Adedeji Street. Also, Charly Boy Bus Stop has been renamed Baddo Bus Stop. This is a big moment for fans of Olamide.
Other changes include Ifeanyi Street, now Abolore Akande (9ice) Street. Ayodele Street is now Tony Tetuila Street. Ilojo Crescent in Obanikoro is now Bukayo Saka Street.
These changes are a way to honour stars with roots in Bariga. It shows love for those who have helped put the area on the map.
