Nigerian music sensation Adekunle Gold has received a prestigious recognition as a street in Lagos now bears his name. The 38-year-old artist, known for blending Afrobeats with highlife and soulful rhythms, shared the emotional moment with fans via social media.

During the unveiling ceremony, Adekunle Gold stood beside his wife, Simi, and their daughter, Deja. Together, the family pulled back the veil covering the new signpost, revealing the name “Adekunle Kosoko Street.” The artist, visibly moved, smiled as the moment captured his journey from local talent to national icon.
Expressing his gratitude, the “Sade” hitmaker wrote, “Adekunle Kosoko Street. The city that raised me now carries my name. Thank you, Lord, for my many blessings.”
The recognition resonates deeply with Adekunle Gold’s heritage. A proud descendant of the Kosoko royal family, his roots trace back to Oba Kosoko, the former king of Lagos, who ruled from 1845 to 1851. The honour reflects both his personal and ancestral legacy within Lagos Island.
Fans and fellow artists have celebrated the achievement, viewing it as a symbol of what hard work and staying true to one’s identity can accomplish.
Adekunle Gold’s street naming stands as a tribute not only to his musical achievements but also to his cultural heritage.
