Kinsmen of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels have given her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, 48 hours to accept the bride price he paid for her and to stop allegedly harassing her family members.
In an open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi on behalf of the Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State, the kinsmen accused Ned of disrespecting their customs and using his influence to intimidate Regina’s relatives. The letter emphasized that the community values peace, fairness, and respect for cultural traditions.
The kinsmen explained that, according to Ogwashi-Uku custom, marriages cannot be forced. When a woman decides to leave, her family must return the bride price. They stated that Regina’s family made efforts to return it, but Ned allegedly refused. The community warned that if he continues to decline, they will deposit the bride price at Ikeleke Quarter in Ogwashi-Uku, a traditional act that officially ends the marriage.
The letter also condemned the reported arrest and intimidation of Regina’s relatives, describing the acts as oppressive and an affront to their people and longstanding traditions. The kinsmen called on Ned Nwoko to restore peace by respecting custom and releasing all affected family members.
Regina Daniels had previously accused her estranged husband of ordering the arrest of her brother and sister after she refused to return to him. The couple married in 2019 and share two sons.
