Early Life

Tosin Adeyemi grew up doing what she loved: performing. She earned a Theatre Arts degree from the University of Lagos, and then honed her craft further by studying acting at La Cinéfabrique film school in Lyon, France.

As a young performer, she appeared on her school stage and continued acting throughout university. She also explored pageantry, becoming Miss Congeniality and placing second runner-up in the Lagos Carnival Beauty Pageant, while modeling at Abuja Fashion Week.

Career

Tosin launched her career on stage and has remained deeply rooted in theatre. Her earliest big break came in Kakadu the Musical in 2013. She then starred in hits like Queen Moremi the Musical and Queen of the Night at major theatre festivals.

On screen, she rose to wider prominence with her role as Zeinab in House of Ga’a, a film by Bolanle Austen‑Peters. She admitted that her semi-nude bedroom scenes in that film challenged her deeply.

Tosin consistently balances theatre, TV, and digital roles. In 2025, she broke through on the international stage when she starred in My Father’s Shadow and Osamede, two Nollywood films selected for the Cannes Film Festival.

She also directs and produces: she made her directorial debut with a play called The X Chromosomes, exploring silenced voices and women’s stories.

Tosin Adeyemi’s trajectory from school plays to Cannes premieres reveals her passion, discipline, and versatility.
