Layi Wasabi, born Isaac Ayomide Olayiwola, is a Nigerian comedian and actor best known for his deadpan lawyer persona, a character built partly on his own legal training that has made him one of the most distinctive voices in Nigerian digital comedy.

Born on July 11, 1998, in Osogbo, Osun State, he lost his father when he was two years old and was raised by his mother and extended family. His comedic instincts surfaced early, forming a school drama group called The Emerald Star during his junior secondary years and performing stand-up comedy inspired by acts including Basketmouth and Bovi. He went on to study Corporate Law at Bowen University, becoming a qualified lawyer before entertainment took over as his primary career.

Olayiwola began posting content in 2017, but it was his shift to sketch comedy around 2020 that defined his career, particularly his raw, unedited skits featuring an exaggerated, deadpan lawyer character settling absurd disputes. His comedic breakthrough was aided by a notable 2018 performance at AY Live, hosted by veteran comedian Ayo Makun, which opened doors to wider recognition.

His crossover into film has included supporting roles in Aníkúlápó: Rise of the Spectre and Adire, both streaming on Netflix, as well as the Prime Video film Japa, and Everybody Loves Jenifa, where he played the loyal best friend Rexx in what he has described as his most challenging role to date. Adire alone grossed over ₦31 million at the Nigerian box office.

Olayiwola’s achievements include winning Best Content Creator at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, alongside recognition from Meta’s Creators of Tomorrow programme. With more Nollywood projects reportedly in the pipeline, he continues to balance his legal background with an expanding on-screen acting career.
