Emeka Rollas, born Ejezie Emeka Rollas, is a Nigerian actor, filmmaker, and industry leader whose long tenure at the helm of the Actors Guild of Nigeria has made him one of the most consequential administrative figures in the modern Nollywood era.

Born on April 15, 1974, in Oguta, Imo State, Rollas’ early path pointed toward the priesthood, having enrolled at the Holy Ghost Juniorate Seminary in Ihiala in the 1970s before his passion for the arts redirected him toward theatre. He graduated with an upper credit in Mass Communication from the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, in Anambra State, having organised talent shows and drama productions throughout his student years.

Rollas entered Nollywood in the late 1990s, with his first film roles in Hilda and The Mighty Woman introduced to him by a friend. He went on to build a filmography of over 100 movies, including Last Warning and its sequel, and Beyond Reason, while also founding Rolling Pictures Ltd., a production company focused on storytelling rooted in Igbo culture and moral themes.

His most defining contribution to the industry came through leadership: Rollas was first elected National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria in August 2017, taking over amid a prolonged leadership crisis, and was subsequently re-elected in 2019, 2020, and 2024, making him one of the longest-serving presidents in the Guild’s history. Under his administration, AGN introduced member health insurance and dispute-resolution systems, though his tenure has also drawn criticism from industry figures including Kate Henshaw and Hilda Dokubo over specific leadership decisions.

Beyond the Guild, Rollas has represented Nigerian creative industries at United Nations forums, including the UN General Assembly and the UN Conference for Sustainable Development in Rio in 2012, and received Nigeria’s Member of the Order of the Niger national honour in 2022 for his contributions to the film industry.
