Early Life
Bukunmi Oluwasina was born on 7 May 1990 into a family of seven in Okemesi, Ekiti State, Nigeria, the third child in her family. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University, where she began honing her craft early, writing movie scripts during her secondary school years and balancing that passion with her academic workload.
Career
Bukunmi Oluwasina began her acting career shortly after graduating from university, making her film debut in 2013 in ‘Modebi Olami.’ Her defining moment came in 2015 when she wrote and produced ‘Ayomi,’ a film that secured a partnership with Pepsi and Vivas for its premiere and became the only indigenous movie to screen in Viva Cinema at the time. The film earned a nomination for Best Indigenous Movie (Yoruba) at the 2015 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards and won Best Actress of the Year at the Best of Nollywood Awards.
In 2021, Bukunmi made history as the first Nollywood actress to portray four different character roles within a single film, ‘Jankariwo,’ a performance that earned her a further nomination at the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards. She has since appeared in high-profile productions including ‘Citation’ (2020) and the Netflix hit ‘Jagun Jagun’ (2023). Beyond acting, she is also a singer, having written and performed several soundtracks for Yoruba films, and continues to write, produce and star in her own projects.
Personal Life
Bukunmi Oluwasina married her partner of eleven years, Ebun, on 17 September 2020. The couple welcomed a daughter on 3 March 2021.
