Hakeem Kae-Kazim is a Nigerian-British actor and producer born in Lagos, Nigeria in October 1962, to an accountant father and a civil engineer mother with roots in Abeokuta, Ogun State. His family relocated to the United Kingdom when he was still an infant, where he later trained classically at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Kae-Kazim gained international recognition for his searing portrayal of Georges Rutaganda in the Oscar-nominated 2004 film Hotel Rwanda, a role that opened doors to major Hollywood and international productions including Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Godzilla vs. Kong, alongside television roles in Black Sails, 24: Redemption, and the BBC series Troy: Fall of a City.

Unlike many Nigerian-heritage actors who work primarily in the UK and US, Kae-Kazim has repeatedly returned to star directly in Nigerian and pan-African productions, including Last Flight to Abuja, Black November, and Half of a Yellow Sun. He also produced and starred in the 2011 drama Man on Ground, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and earned him two Africa Movie Academy Award nominations, and won a South African Film and Television Award for his performance in Riding with Sugar.

With a career spanning nearly four decades across British theatre, Hollywood blockbusters, and hands-on Nigerian film production, Kae-Kazim stands as one of the clearest examples of a Nigerian-born actor who has never fully left the industry he started in, even as his Hollywood profile grew.
