Genoveva Kenechukwu Umeh, born May 8, 1995, in Enugu, is a British-Nigerian actress who has become one of the most consistent breakout names in Nollywood’s current generation. Raised between Enugu and the UK, she pursued a law degree at the University of Surrey, graduating with honours in LLB Law in 2018, before making the decision to move to Lagos and chase acting full-time.

Genoveva got her start on the Lagos theatre scene, writing and performing a one-woman stage play, “Home,” at the Lagos Fringe Festival before landing her first screen roles. Her breakout came in 2022 with back-to-back appearances in Netflix’s “Blood Sisters” and MTV’s “Far From Home,” which introduced her to a wider streaming audience. The following year brought even bigger visibility through Funke Akindele’s record-breaking “A Tribe Called Judah” and BB Sasore’s “Breath of Life,” where her performance as Anna earned her the Best Supporting Actress award at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

Since then, Genoveva has continued building a filmography defined by range, moving between anti-hero energy and heartfelt romantic leads with equal ease. She has also featured in Showmax’s “Crime and Justice Lagos” and was named one of the top 10 rising Nollywood actors by African Folder in 2023. With “A Tribe Called Judah” contributing to Nollywood’s historic โ‚ฆ11.5 billion 2024 box office haul, her star continues to rise alongside the industry’s biggest commercial wins.
