Samuel Ajibola is a Nigerian television and film actor, director and producer best known to millions of Nollywood fans as Spiff on the long-running Africa Magic sitcom “The Johnsons.” Born on December 26 in Mazamaza, Lagos State, to Commander Lanre Ajibola and Mrs Irene Ajibola, he is the first of four children and hails from Ekiti State, of Yoruba descent.

Ajibola’s career began remarkably early. At just six years old in 1995, he landed a role in the Opa Williams-produced film “Tears for Love” after impressing his aunt, actress Moyinoluwa Odutayo, during a church stage play. He went on to become the first Nigerian child actor to win Best Kid Actor three years in a row, before taking a hiatus in 2003 to complete his high school education and pursue a degree in Political Science at the University of Lagos, later adding a Master of Public Administration from Ajayi Crowther University and formal acting training at Amaka Igwe’s Centre for Excellence in Film and Media Studies.

He returned to acting in 2009 in Teco Benson’s “The Fake Prophet” alongside Grace Amah, and has since built a filmography spanning film and television, including “Last Flight to Abuja” with Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, “The Antique,” “Patrick Syndrome,” “Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons,” and MTV Base’s “Shuga.” His most defining role, however, has remained Spiff on “The Johnsons,” a part that earned him the 2017 AMVCA for Best Actor in an M-Net Comedy Series and cemented his place as one of Nollywood’s most recognisable television faces across two generations of viewers.
