Early Life
Onoriode Ebiere Ariyo, widely recognized as Onos Ariyo, was born in Delta State, Nigeria. She completed her primary and secondary education in Delta before earning a bachelor’s degree in French from Delta State University, Abraka. Onos developed a passion for music early on, singing in various choirs and groups during her school years. Her move to Lagos in 2004 marked the beginning of her professional music journey, where she recorded her debut single “Dance,” produced by FLO.
Career
Onos launched her professional music career with the single “Dance” and went on to become one of Nigeria’s most respected gospel voices. Her debut album Keep Moving was released in 2010 and featured collaborations with artists such as Jamaican gospel singer Chevelle Franklyn. In 2014, she also gained widespread acclaim with her sophomore album No Limits, which featured the powerful anthem Alagbara, written and produced by Wilson Joel. This breakout hit solidified her place in the gospel music scene.
Her subsequent albums include Songs from the Place of Prayer (2017) and Breathe (2019). Onos also initiated a monthly worship event titled BREATHE, fostering intimate worship experiences.
She has also graced major gospel stages, including The Experience in Lagos, sharing platforms with Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, and Travis Greene. In 2024, she made history as the first gospel artist in Nigeria to sign with Sony Music West Africa.
Onos Ariyo continues to elevate gospel music with her inspiring vocals, spiritual depth, and consistent artistic growth. Her legacy expands beyond music, empowering worship communities across the globe.
