Nigerian media personality Akinyemi Oluwaseun Omotayo, widely known as Asherkine, has opened up about his decision to stop producing binge-eating content. Known for his engaging food videos and philanthropy, Asherkine admitted that creating such content had unintended consequences on his health and lifestyle.

According to him, constantly consuming multiple heavy meals for content led to a loss of moderation. What began as enjoyable food challenges quickly turned into mindless eating habits. He revealed that he would continue eating until he experienced abdominal discomfort, even outside of filming.
“I genuinely enjoyed finishing over five different meals regularly until my body pushed back,” he said. “Even with an active lifestyle, I couldn’t offset the effects.”
Asherkine began to suffer from heart palpitations, weight gain, high blood pressure symptoms, irregular sleep patterns, and persistent fatigue. More troubling was the mental struggle to regain control over his eating habits. He described battling gluttony as one of the hardest challenges he’s faced.
“I can’t express how disrespectful gluttony is and how much power it holds. It’s mad underrated,” he explained. Two years on, he still grapples with the effects of compulsive eating.
Despite stepping back from binge-eating content, Asherkine hasn’t ruled out making food-related videos entirely—just in healthier volumes. He urged others facing similar struggles to take eating disorders seriously and listen to their bodies.
Asherkine’s honest reflection highlights the hidden toll of creating binge-eating content and the importance of moderation.
