Born Abimbola Oshin on July 24, 1971, in Ondo town, Ondo State, she is the seventh child in a large family. She completed her early education across Ondo State and Ile-Ife before her family settled in Lagos, where she attended Girls Academy, Sandgrouse, on Lagos Island. While still an undergraduate in 1996, Oshin was introduced to the Ara Osan Theatre Group, owned by Rasaq Ajao, where she trained for four years under respected figures including Yinka Quadri and Taiwo Hassan. She made her film debut in the 1997 Yoruba movie Akobi, but it was her role in the 2012 film Omo Elemosho that brought her widespread recognition and cemented her standing as one of the industry’s leading actresses.
Over the course of her career, Oshin has appeared in numerous acclaimed Yoruba-language productions, including Eji Owuro, Civil War, Omo Oku Oron, and Kakanfo, while also working behind the camera as a producer and director. Her contributions have earned her several honours, including the Yoruba Movies Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role and recognition at the City People Entertainment Awards.
Beyond acting, Oshin runs the fashion brand Dashing by Bimbo Oshin, extending her creative reach into entrepreneurship. Widely respected as one of Nollywood’s finest, her decades-long dedication to Yoruba cinema has made her a defining figure in that segment of the Nigerian film industry.
