Early Life
Charity Chinonso Eke, widely recognized as Chacha Eke, was born on July 17, 1987, in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. She hails from the southeastern region and is the daughter of Professor John Eke, former Ebonyi State Commissioner for Education.
She began her education at ESUT Nursery and Primary School in Ebonyi State and continued at Our Lord Shepherd International School in Enugu State, where she completed her secondary education. Chacha later earned a bachelorโs degree in accountancy from Ebonyi State University.
Career
Chacha Eke entered the Nollywood industry in 2009 after participating in the Miss Nollywood talent show. Her big break came in 2012 when she starred in the emotional drama The End is Near, which catapulted her into the spotlight.
She became well-known for her expressive roles, particularly in films where she portrayed emotional and tearful characters. Her compelling performances quickly earned her recognition as one of Nollywood’s most powerful dramatic actresses.
Over the years, Chacha has featured in numerous Nollywood films and built a solid reputation for her ability to deeply connect with her audience.
Chacha married film director Austin Faani in 2013. Together, they had four children three daughters and a son. In June 2022, she publicly announced the end of their marriage.
Beyond acting, Chacha has spoken openly about her mental health struggles, particularly her battle with bipolar disorder. Her advocacy has brought awareness to mental health issues in Nigeria and inspired many fans to speak out.
Chacha continues to work in Nollywood while using her platform to promote mental health awareness and emotional well-being.
