Oluwafunke Abidemi Durosinmi Etti, popularly known as Funke Etti, is a veteran Nigerian actress and movie producer who has spent well over a decade as a fixture of the Yoruba film industry. Born on April 26 in Lagos, she hails from Isale Eko on Lagos Island and is the last of four children. She had her primary education at St Augus Primary School and attended Igbobi Girls High School, both in Lagos, before earning a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Lagos.
Funke Etti’s entry into the Yoruba movie industry came through producer Kola Igida of Latunde Films, who gave her an early role that opened the door to further opportunities. She made her professional acting debut in “Abe Aso,” produced by the late Yinka Ajomo in 2009, and has since built a filmography that includes “Kikelomo Oluso,” “Iyawo Oni Gold,” “Okunrin Meta,” “Owu Iya,” “Maami,” and “Iro Funfun,” among many others.
Beyond acting, Funke has also stepped behind the camera as a movie producer, with credits including “Owu Iya” and “Maami.” She has cited industry veterans like Iya Awero (Lanre Hassan), Mama Rainbow (Idowu Phillips), Joke Silva, Lola Idije (Toyin Afolayan) and Madam Saje (Fausat Balogun) as role models whose delivery shaped her own approach to acting. Outside of film, she is also an event planner and television presenter, rounding out a multi-hyphenate career within Nigeria’s entertainment space.
