Early Life
Born in Isolo, Lagos State, Lateef Adedimeji hails from Abeokuta in Ogun State. He attended Ire Akari Primary School in Isolo and completed his secondary education at Ilamoye Grammar School in Okota, Lagos. He later trained at a performance studio workshop in Onikan, Lagos, and developed his writing and acting skills through the NGO Community Life Project. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Olabisi Onabanjo University.
Career
Lateef launched his career in entertainment in 2007, having initially pursued dancing and received training at a dance school. Though he began performing on stage at age 15, he officially joined the acting industry through Orisun TV in 2007. During his secondary school years, an NGO selected him to act as an informer and counselor for an HIV/AIDS awareness campaign. He educated audiences on sexual health and human rights through dramatized video content.
Well-known for portraying emotionally intense characters, Lateef has collaborated with many prominent figures in Nollywood. In 2016, he won the Best Actor in a Lead Role (Yoruba) at the Best of Nollywood Awards. The previous year, the City People Entertainment Awards nominated him as the Most Promising Actor of the Year. Many fans often mistake him for Odunlade Adekola due to their similar appearance and comedic style. UNICEF also recognized his writing talent and partnered with him for advocacy work. In October 2021, he received the “Face of Nollywood (Male)” award at the ENigeria Newspaper Night of Honour.
On 18 December 2021, Lateef Adedimeji married fellow actress Oyebade Adebimpe in a vibrant ceremony.
